Auburn, though being a small town, can have quite an assortment of romantic restaurants in and around the area. Whether you are a foodie looking for an award-winning restaurant, seeking a casual atmosphere or a place with intimate dark corners I believe these fine restaurants will fit the bill.
- Carpe Vino- This restaurant could be my favorite in Auburn! If you love wine then look no further. Carpe Vino has an award-winning wine list that will keep you coming back for more. The food is superb with an exquisite menu combining fresh local ingredients with mouth-watering flavors, textures and color. Located in Old Town Auburn, Carpe Vino’s main structure housing the wine bar was built in 1855 and for years it was home to the Union Saloon, a true Western bar that quenched the thirst of gold miners, Union soldiers, gamblers, railroad builders and all manner of frontiersmen seeking their fortunes. This place has history and texture and soul that oozes from the original brick walls and Douglas fir ceiling beams. It is a small restaurant that gives a very cozy and romantic atmosphere. This restaurant checks off all the boxes on my list of best romantic restaurants!
- Wise Villa Winery and Bistro–
The view from Wise Villa Winery is nothing short of amazing! Romance oozes from the second you get your first glass of wine overlooking the valley; and if you time your visit with the sunset… well forget about it! Wise Villa has done exceptionally well earning awards from some of the most prestigious competitions. There is an indoor dining area with a fireplace or depending on the weather an alfresco experience to die for. The food is also amazing from small plates to go with your wine tastings or a gourmet meal to sit and savor. I happen to like their hamburger but so many other dishes deserve recognition.
Tre Pazzi is my favorite Italian Restaurant in Auburn. Located in the heart of Downtown Auburn, it’s light-hearted dining experience will capture taste buds. The restaurant has alfresco dining and in the summer months even has musicians serenading you while you are dining. The menu has vegetarian dishes as well as gluten-free pasta on request. I just love sitting outside with a glass of really good wine and just people watch. The desserts are absolutely wonderful too!
4. Friar Tucks-
Located in Downtown Nevada City, Friar Tucks’s menu will make your mouth water! The special fondue style dining is very romantic as you share your bite size pieces together. If you are looking for something more substantial there is plenty more to pick from on this menu. From lobster to organic chicken you can be sure to find something memorable. There is live music on most nights they are open which adds to the ambiance and fun vibe. After dinner take a stroll through Historic Nevada City to top off this wonderful date-night experience.
