Placer County has a diverse mix of towns from very rural to growing suburbia.  The areas can be broken down based on the Placer County demographics, topography and weather.  Auburn is the county seat and is famous for being the oldest gold mining town in California.  If you are looking to move to this beautiful area it's important to be familiar with some of it's main cities.  

Roseville and Rocklin:  The fastest growing towns in Placer County.  Only 15-20 minutes from Sacramento so it's great for commuters.  Many new home developements give buyers a wide assortment of houses and communities to pick from.  Many top rated schools are established and parks and recreation is plentiful.  The feel of Rocklin and Roseville is very much like modern day suburbia with all it's conveniences.  Land is mostly flat and can be warmer by 5-10 degrees than some of the higher elevations. View Listings...  
 

Granite Bay:  Granite Bay is arguably one of the most prestigious towns in Placer County.  Top rated schools and it's proximity to Folsom Lake draw people from all over.  Granite Bay is just minutes from Folsom Lake where fishing, water-skiing, jet skiing and swimming are plentiful all year.  Speckled with gated communities, country clubs, and estate homes overlooking the lake; this community offers something for the most discriminating tastes.  Just 15-20 minutes from Sacramento. View Listings...  

Loomis, Newcastle, Penryn:  These towns have a much more country feel.  They are at the base of the hills leading into the Sierras.  Still only 20 minutes or so from Sacramento, they give an option to the person looking to get away from it all but still commute into Sacramento.  Acreage is common as well as livestock such as horses, cows, sheep and goats.  Quaint little downtowns make for a sense of community.  You are more likely to purchase land or an existing custom home than you would a tract home.  A wide assortment of home values from manufactured homes to vineyard estates. Lincoln: This city rests at the base of the Sierra Foothills where some of us would say the "flat-landers" live.  It's proximity to Sacramento (just 30 miles northeast of the Capital of California) it certainly has become a mecca for new home developement and the epicenter for senior living.  Dell Webb's Sun City/Lincoln Hills community is a perfect choice for our seniors who wish to stay active.  But it's not just for the young at heart.  Many first time buyers find Lincoln and it's surrounding communties a perfect choice to get into an affordable home with terrific neighborhoods and schools.
