Auburn has a remarkable park called Hidden Falls. It is one of my favorite places to hike and mountain bike. However, there seems to be some confusion regarding how to access the park. Some websites out there are saying there is access to Hidden Falls off of Bell Rd. but there is NO ACCESS. In fact, if you were driving down Bell Rd. you can see the homeowners posted signs clearly stating NO Hidden Falls Access. Which brings up the issue of homeowners on or near Bell Rd. not only stating there is currently no Hidden Falls access but they are also protesting the current proposal to eventually have access in the future.
So, how do you get into the park? Right now, there is only one way to get in and that is off of Mears Place in Auburn. Here is a link to Hidden Falls so you can see for yourself how to get there. Plus, this site has a nifty live webcam so you can see how crowded it is in the parking lot since on weekends they charge and they can end up turning people away if the parking lot is full. A parking reservation is sometimes needed so this link also gives you that info. The actual address of Hidden Falls is 7587 Mears Place, Auburn, CA 95602
Although there are proposals for multiple access points to Hidden Falls on the a table right now, there is still no other way to get into the park. So, if you are on websites showing you maps that look like you may be able to access it from other points (other than Mears Place), they are not accurate. Trying to gain access off of Bell Rd or Garden Bar Rd. would mean you would be trespassing on private property to do so. Let’s be considerate of people’s property. You wouldn’t want anyone walking through YOUR backyard.
I hope you get a chance to enjoy this amazing gem we have in Auburn. Its a wonderful park to bring your dog, horse, bike, family and friends. Happy Trails!
